Their old stuff is so much better!

Or at least that's what everyone tells me, but you know what? It's all bullshit if you ask me.

New Order ARE better than Joy Division
Wilco ARE better than Uncle Tupleo
Ryan Adams IS better than Whiskeytown

Narrow Stairs IS better than all the other DCFC albums (well, except for The Photo Album)

And I am smarter than you!

The Best Albums of 2009

According to me...

I've been making my top 10 list since 1997, that's 13 years in a row!

This year's list is very electro-pop heavy, which I'm sure is not a surprise to my wife.

Anyhoo, here it is.

1. Passion Pit - Manners (Frenchkiss)
2. Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You (Capitol)
3. Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Glass Note)
4. Monsters of Folk - Monsters of Folk (Shangri-La)
5. The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love (Capitol)
6. Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3 (Roc-A-Fella)
7. Wilco - Wilco [The Album] (Nonesuch)
8. Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown (Reprise)
9. Röyksopp - Junior (Astralwerks)
10. Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest (Warp)

American Idiot: the Musical!

Saw it last night and it's amazing. Back when "Dookie" came out who knew that Billie Joe would be such a great songwriter?

Great music (of course), great dancing, great production.

It's at Berkeley Rep through Sunday, if you get a chance, and can get tickets, go!

New Hot Chip

Awesome, I can't wait until this comes out. Also, go see them if they make it to your town, one of the best live acts ever.

Oh Ben Gibbard!

...and Jeff Tweedy and Will Sheff.

I installed the last.fm Scrobbler yesterday and it charted my iTunes listening habits. I was not entirely surprised at the top 3, Death Cab For Cutie, Wilco and Okkervil River.

What did surprise me was how far out in front Death Cab were, and how far ahead the top 3 were over everyone else.

And wow, I sure like Heavy Metal Drummer.
